Before you start

You need active GovBiz API access and a key with the search permission. Create your key first.

You need Excel with Power Query. Availability depends on your Excel version and licence. This example has not been verified in a desktop Excel session.

Each request uses your shared workspace allowance. The examples do not send email or update another service.

Run the example

Create a text parameter named GovBizApiKey in Power Query. Use it in a blank query’s Advanced Editor.

let
    Source = Json.Document(Web.Contents(
        "https://www.govbiz.ai",
        [RelativePath="api/v2/opportunities/search",
         Query=[naics_code="541512", limit="10"],
         Headers=[Authorization="Bearer " & GovBizApiKey]])),
    Rows = Table.FromRecords(Source[data][results]),
    Selected = Table.SelectColumns(Rows,
        {"notice_id", "title", "posted_date", "response_deadline"}),
    WithSource = Table.AddColumn(Selected, "source_url",
        each "https://sam.gov/opp/" & [notice_id] & "/view")
in
    WithSource

Check the result

Load the query as a table. Check notice identifiers, dates, and the generated SAM.gov source links.

Live results change. Compare the response shape with our captured sample and check the original notices.

Limits and care

Keep credentials out of shared code, browser bundles, and workbooks you distribute. Excel parameters may be visible to people who can open the workbook.

Check HTTP errors before using results. Retry temporary errors with a delay. Avoid repeated retries for authentication failures.

These examples use explicit filters. They do not make bid decisions or produce proposals.
